The third marking period topics require a thorough understanding of how to factor polynomials. Unfortunately this is a topic that causes problems for many Algebra 1 students. There is a great deal of remedial material available in the form of work sheets, which even if done cooperatively can be boring. Yet it is through practice that the students eventually learn this topic. I was hoping to find lessons or programs on the internet, which could be used by the students that would help to motivate them to work through their problems. The simple task of using the computer to search for help and additional exercises or word problems will put a new spin on remediation and practice.
I would also appreciate any information about the techniques being taught in college methods courses -particularly those that refer to mathematics and the Internet.
Thank you.
