| The MACMATC is a National Science Foundation-sponsored project involving Penn, Villanova, Community College of Philadelphia, Polytechnic, some Philadelphia high schools and the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics, that seeks to improve students' appreciation and understanding of mathematics by infusing math courses with real applications and other courses with mathematics. MACMATC Java modules created at Polytechnic include vibration modes of a linear molecule, Eulerian wobble, conservation laws games, simple properties of vectors, addition of vectors (law of parallelogram), dot-product of vectors, decomposing a vector into its rectangular components, check-digit schemes, the law of reflection in geometrical optics, and drawing dashed lines in computer graphics. Visit the MACMATC home page hosted at the University of Pennsylvania. | |
